Now that we've settled in...

Now we’ve given them time to settle in we would love to introduce our newest members of Hebden Court , The Lavender Tea Rooms Derbyshire Limited run by Trevor and Karen Newman

What do you sell?

We offer teas, coffees, cold drinks, cakes, sandwiches, cream teas, afternoon teas and breakfast items

What makes you different?

We favour mis-matched china cups, saucers, plates and teapots in our tea room which is set over 2 floors with a tranquil outside seating area. In the summer our customers can enjoy the sunshine or shade of a parasol, and in the winter a warm throw.

Four-legged friends are always welcome at our outside tables where they can enjoy a drink too.

Tell us a bit about yourselves? Can we ask your age?!

Well we are old enough to have 3 grown up children (24yrs, 21yrs, 19yrs) but still young enough to start our new tea room adventure

Where are you originally from?

We have lived in Peterborough for the last 30 years

When did you open your business?

We took over the business on Friday 12th June 2020 and we have worked hard to open mid to late July

Why did you choose Bakewell / Hebden court?

Bakewell has always been a favourite place to visit. We first came to Bakewell 20+ years ago and fell in love with the charm and character of the town and have returned many times over the years. Hebden Court is a stunning location with unique features and a lovely atmosphere. There are always people wandering in the courtyard. Who wouldn't want to go to work there every day?

What do you think will be your best seller?

Tea, coffee and cake selections

What will people be most surprised you will sell?

Locally made loose leaf tea

What’s your favourite item?

Bakewell pudding

What’s your most unique item?

Cake meze... a selection of mini cakes to eat in or takeaway

How do you think you will succeed following Covid ? Or how have you done online sales / takeaway?

As lockdown eases, we believe that people will be flocking to UK towns and cities and enjoying the countryside and open spaces that the National Parks offer. Local businesses will hopefully benefit from the influx of visitors as things start to improve.

What do you love the most about your job?

Owning our own tea room has been a dream of ours for many years. Working and living in the Derbyshire Dales and achieving a lifetime goal and dream

Do you have any hobbies?

We love walking, travelling and attending live events

Tell us an interesting fact about you...

Trevor was once presented with an achievement award by Frank Bruno in London. Karen once sold a freezer to Jeffrey Archer

Trevor and Karen welcome you to their beautiful cafe and can’t wait to meet you soon!
